500kW BESS Replacing Diesel Generators at Carseldine Housing Project
At a Carseldine affordable housing project, one of our 500kW BESS units has replaced both of the diesel generators (250kVA and 500kVA), using the site’s existing 63A mains feed.
Project Snapshot
Key Outcomes
This project experienced the following results:
Diesel saved per month
Diesel reduction compared with conventional generator use
Monthly CO2 avoided
Lower carbon emissions each month

Project Summary
At the Carseldine affordable and social housing project, GeneRent replaced both a 250kVA and 500kVA diesel generator with one of our 500kW BESS units using the existing 63A mains feed.
The system is currently powering two Liebherr tower cranes and is set to support two hoists as the project progresses, despite paper site demand exceeding 700A.
Monthly savings already show major reductions in diesel use and carbon emissions, with further savings expected as energy demand increases through later construction stages.
This project shows how a properly designed BESS can completely remove or significantly reduce diesel use, emissions, noise and operating cost on a live construction site.
